One of our local teams took part in last weekend's jam packed action that saw noisy crowds and top quality volleyball action as teams went head to head for a place in the Cup and Shield Finals on the 20^th-21^st April at the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering.

Women’s Shield
Semi Final: Loughborough Students vs. Coventry & Warwick Riga 3-2 (26-24, 25-18, 19-25, 21-25, 15-10)
Loughborough Students secured their place in the women’s Shield Finals after going the distance with Coventry & Warwick Riga. Loughborough started strongly in the first two sets before letting Riga draw level, with a huge comeback in their sights. In the fifth Loughborough managed to regain control and book their place in the finals.

As the Men's season draws to a close, the play off finals are underway.  

In the West Section, PVC ran out winners and faced Nottingham Arena who came second in the East Section.  Arena won through to the finals with a strong 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-19, 25-14).

Lincoln Lynx won the right to host the other semi final by topping the East Section.  They played against West Section runners-up, Hermitage, and the home team triumphed by 3 sets to 2 in a much more even contest (25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10).  As you can see, there were very few points between the teams.

Well done to all the teams who reached the semi-finals and especially to Lincoln Lynx and Nottingham Arena, who face each other in the final - to be held soon.
